Dr. Elizabeth Herness Peters serves as the Government clients Manager at Pendaran, Inc. She received a Ph.D. in molecular biology in 2002 from the University of Toledo Health Science Center where she initially learned the policies and procedures of pursuing funding from the Federal Government.
Immediately after graduation, she joined Gene Express Inc., a molecular diagnostic company. At Gene Express, Dr. Peters held several positions of increasing responsibility including Vice President of Science and Innovative Technologies that afforded her the experience of executing teaming agreements, winning state and Federal grants and clients, managing post-award activities of government clients as well as leading projects that involved collaboration between academic, commercial and government organizations.
In 2009, she co-founded the Astilbe Group, a certified women-owned, minority-owned, consulting firm that enables small businesses to navigate through the Federal contracting procurement process. She has written, won and successfully managed the post-award activities of Federal clients from the Departments of Health and Human Services, Defense, Transportation and Energy for several organizations. As an advocate for women leading organizations with high-impact technologies in biotechnology, computational sciences, and engineering, Dr. Peters is an experienced leader and an active member of the Michigan Diversity Collaboration (MiDiCo) and the Women’s Business Enterprise Council Great Lakes.
She currently lives in Ann Arbor, Michigan with her husband, Greg, and their two daughters, Kaylie and Abigail.
